This lioness (Panthera leo) can be considered an extraordinarily unique animal, one which has looked after her aging mother against all odds and ostracised from the prides of Mana Pools for several years now. Here, she was in her afternoon slumber in the shade of a thicket when alerted to my presence. The mother and a single cub were nearby. The cub never survived into this year (probably taken by predators) and the mother has most likely gone to her happy hunting ground in the sky too. Hopefully this amazing lioness will now integrate back into the prides.
