Lion with the Pigs Head

This young male lion (Panthera leo) jealously guards the remaining part of a kill, a warthog head, while watching the rest of the pride stroll off to find a patch of shade under which they would sleep for the day. He eventually decided to follow the other members of the pride, but took his prize along with him. The head was found abandoned at the base of a tree a couple of days later. The older pride males are gorge themselves, irascibly defending their share, especially with small kills, such as in this case the warthog.
