Lions Feasting

Its dark, the photographer saw the kill, but never captured it on camera due to fading light. A pride of nine lions (Panthera leo) took down this buffalo in this cruel spat of survival in the wild. Within minutes the entire pride was gorging itself on its quarry, a feast which continued into the night. The photographer, most reluctantly, used vehicle headlights to capture this scene and acknowledges the invasion. This was one of those occasions where the photographer did not have all his equipment to hand, a wider angled lens would have taken in more of the scene.
