A young lion (Panthera leo) sits on the edge of a dry river bed, basking in the late afternoon sun. The rest of the pride were a little better concealed, including the dominant male lion, which confronted the photographer a little later. Seems the pride was hungry too, this cub was soon distracted by a passing impala, which the entire pride decided to assess for supper potential. Nothing came of it, probably irritating the old man of the pride a little more.
