Carolina Wren (Thryothorus ludovicianus) captured by guest photographer, John Davey, a former colleague and long standing friend. The Carolina Wren is a common bird in the eastern United States and generally a permanent resident of the region in which it lives, rather than a migratory bird. They are sensitive to cold extremes and suffer devastation of their numbers during severe winters, but seem to recover their populations rapidly during the warmer months. This is an excellent shot with the diagonals lending to a splendid composition. A special word of thanks to John for giving his permission for the publication of his image on this photo blog… he will teach me much about bird photography.
